SUMMARY OF POSITION:

Primarily responsible for the bank's overall communications initiatives, this position will work with the Marketing and Corporate Communications Manager to develop strategies to support the bank's internal and external communications objectives. Position will also assist with the day-to-day activities of the department, demonstrate a commitment to community involvement, coordinate assignments with internal and external business partners, delegate tasks as needed within the department, provide periodic reports and respond to inquiries and requests for information in a timely manner.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:

  1. Internal Communications
    1. Manage the development and execution of the bank's communications activities to support and promote company-wide and departmental goals.
    2. Ensure organizational initiatives and projects are successfully and consistently communicated to employees and internal stakeholders.
    3. Plan, edit and write content for a variety of internal communications.
    4. Ensure internal messages are consistent with external and customer communications.
    5. Identify and recommend improvements for internal communications content and delivery.
    6. Work closely with bank leadership and executives to develop and strengthen employee engagement activities.
  1. External Communications
    1. Produce content for external communications including promotional and collateral materials, customer letters, emails and presentations.
    2. Develop and disseminate public relations materials that increase the bank's visibility and brand awareness in the community.
    3. Build and maintain relationships with key media influencers including journalists, bloggers and customer audiences.
    4. Support the company's investor communications and outreach initiatives including the annual report, earnings releases, reports and presentations.
    5. Identify target audiences and create strategies for effective engagement and increased visibility.
  1. Content Development
    1. Assist with the planning, development and execution of content for the bank's website and social media channels.
    2. Collaborate with external agency partner(s) and internal business units on monthly editorial calendars.
    3. Ensure digital marketing content aligns with the bank's brand identity and key messages, and supports promotional campaigns as needed.
    4. Provide support for bank subject-matter experts to develop content for digital channels and external publications.
  1. Intranet Management
    1. Coordinate with internal and external partners on the implementation and maintenance of the intranet.
    2. Work with internal stakeholders to understand their communication needs and provide solutions through the intranet.
    3. Support the efforts of departmental content owners to ensure information is effectively disseminated.
    4. Lead projects to improve sections of the intranet or deliver new tools through the intranet.
  1. Community Event and Sponsorship Support
    1. Provide support for the communications of the bank's community events and sponsorships in assigned markets.
    2. Support sponsorship program activation (communications, content development, etc.) with external partner and the appropriate community office or department.

ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Performs additional marketing duties which include, but are not limited to, the following:
    1. Coordinate external customer communications regarding changes including, but not limited to:
      1. Fee schedules and disclosures
      2. Products and services
      3. Onboarding
    2. Facilitate internal and external communications to support new product and branding initiatives.
    3. Assist with the development of customer case studies and testimonials.
    4. Support sales initiatives by creating various communications including talking points, presentations and proposals.
    5. Maintain the bank's Crisis Communications Plan and contribute to the management of reputational risk by identifying emerging risks through traditional and social media outlets.
    6. Serve as a member of the bank's Marketing Committee and participate in monthly committee meetings.
  2. Achieves assigned goals as part of the Marketing Department's annual operating plan and the day-to-day activities of the department:
    1. Works with the other members of the Marketing Department to develop and implement various marketing programs.
    2. Assists with project coordination on a multitude of projects, many of which have concurrent deadlines.
    3. Ensures all compliance and regulatory standards are met.
  1. Demonstrates a commitment to community involvement by participating in various community events. Serves in a leadership capacity to various civic, charitable and related organizations in order to increase the bank's visibility and strengthen relationships with the communities we serve. Performs tasks relating to internal bank events and sponsorship activities.
  2. Coordinates specific work tasks with other personnel within the department as well as with other departments in order to ensure the smooth and efficient flow of information.
  3. Reports pertinent information to the immediate supervisor, as requested, or; compiles information as necessary or directed and provides data to appropriate bank personnel.
  4. Responds to inquiries relating to his/her particular area or to requests from customers or other bank personnel, etc., within given time frames and established policy.

REQUIRED EDUCATION:

A B.S. or B.A. degree in a related field of study required; specialized bank marketing education and training or equivalent bank experience.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE:

A minimum of five (5) years of experience in related positions is required.  Previous experience with communications, journalism, public relations, content development, social and digital marketing also required.

REQUIRED SKILLS:

Must possess strong oral and written communicative skills (including excellent telephone etiquette and grammar); must demonstrate a working knowledge of current and proposed bank regulations affecting the marketing function; moderate math skills with an acceptable degree of accuracy. Must have the ability to deal tactfully and efficiently with customers and other employees.  Must also possess good project management skills with the ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines.  Must demonstrate proficiency in operating office equipment including personal computer, copier, scanner, calculator and fax machine.  Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office software (Word, Excel, etc.) and Windows Operating System required. A valid driver's license is also required.
