SUMMARY OF POSITION:

Responsible for managing the residential mortgage and consumer loan processing areas in order to ensure the prompt and effective delivery of installment loans, residential mortgages, and open-ended credit to retail customers within the bank's market area; providing training and ongoing refreshers to consumer lenders and mortgage originators; ensuring the bank's compliance with established policies and procedures and outside regulatory requirements; overseeing the quality of the residential mortgage and consumer loan portfolios in order to minimize violations and/or exceptions; organizing the workflow and activities of the Residential Mortgage & Consumer Loan Processing Department; directly supervising assigned personnel; and, providing required reports.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:

1. Manages the residential mortgage and consumer loan processing areas to ensure the prompt and effective delivery of installment loans, residential mortgages, and open-ended credit to retail customers within the bank's market area:

  1. Develops and recommends policies and procedures to satisfy quality, volume and earnings objectives in compliance with legal and regulatory requirements.
  2. Keeps abreast of industry trends.
  3. Exercises "exception" approval for direct and open-ended credits within designated loan authority.
  4. Organizes the workflow of the department and ensures the accuracy and efficiency of loan underwriting and processing activities.
  5. Develops and provides training and ongoing refreshers to consumer lenders and mortgage originators as scheduled.

2. Fosters the bank's relationship management culture:

  1. Sets a positive example for community office personnel by using product knowledge to make effective customer referrals.
  2. Participates in relationship management meetings with community office personnel, as necessary.

3. Ensures the bank's compliance with established policies and procedures as well as outside regulatory requirements:

  1. Maintains proficient knowledge of applicable compliance statutes, regulations and interpretations.
  2. Assists Residential Mortgage & Consumer Lending Manager in formulating and updating of bank policies and procedures to maintain bank compliance with applicable compliance statutes, regulations and interpretations.
  3. Assists in the identification of necessary training for bank personnel on bank compliance policies and procedures.
  4. Implements procedures for compliance with new statutes and/or regulations.
  5. Manages and mitigates consumer loan violations and/or exceptions by lenders/originators, underwriters, and processors.
  6. Ensures proper oversight of controls set in accordance with Sarbanes Oxley Act.

4. Directly supervises assigned personnel:

  1. Organizes, schedules and distributes work among assigned personnel.
  2. Keeps personnel informed of pertinent policies and procedures; creates an atmosphere in which upward communication from employees is encouraged.
  3. Reviews and approves all Feedback Forms in accordance with department procedures.
  4. Consults with Residential Mortgage & Consumer Lending Manager on any matters concerning corrective action procedures relating to employees in direct area of supervision.
  5. Makes all employment decisions consistent with the principles of applicable laws prohibiting discrimination.
  6. Administers personnel policies and procedures as established by bank policy.

5. Provides reports to the Residential Mortgage & Consumer Lending Manager, various committees and other groups as required throughout the bank.

6. Demonstrates a commitment to community involvement by participating in various community events. Serves in a leadership capacity to various civic, charitable and related organizations in order to increase the bank's visibility and strengthen relationships with the communities we serve.

REQUIRED EDUCATION:

A Bachelors Degree in a related field is required; or, equivalent combination of education and specialized banking experience related to community banking and/or consumer lending.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE:

A minimum of five (5) years' experience in related positions.  Previous experience with personal computers, Word and Excel software and office equipment is also required.

REQUIRED SKILLS:

Must possess broad consumer lending experience, including lending management involving direct and, residential mortgages and open-ended credit; a working knowledge of banking operations which impact the consumer sales function.  Also required are strong communication skills; well-developed interpersonal and networking skills (service orientation); demonstrated supervisory and leadership skills (with the ability to effectively facilitate and manage change); and above-average organizational and analytical skills.  Must have the ability to deal tactfully and efficiently with fellow bank employees and customers.  Must be able to work at a pace that ensures that established deadlines are met.
