Responsible for developing and managing a commercial lending portfolio within a designated market area of the bank; fostering the bank's relationship management culture by actively pursuing new commercial lending opportunities from current and prospective customers; communicating with relationship management personnel with respect to sales objectives, sales performance and other factors; and, providing required information on sales and service activities. 



1. Manages a commercial lending portfolio within one of the bank's designated market areas:


  1. Jointly establishes quantitative sales objectives with Commercial Services Market Manager on an annual basis; this activity is to be integrated with the Commercial Services annual marketing/sales plan.
  2. Employs credit skills to make loan decisions, actions, and/or recommendations, based on accurate, fully disclosed and complete understanding of each customer's (or prospect's) financial needs and condition, which adhere to the requirements of the Commercial Loan Policy Manual.
  3. Protects F&M Trust's assets and earnings by being accountable for credit decisions and profitability of assigned portfolio.
  4. Ensures timely receipt and analysis of financial information for all relationships in assigned portfolio.
  5. Ensures proper documentation of all loans, comprehend the underlying business issues of loan documentation, and solicit assistance of the Document Review Officer or Legal Counsel when applicable.
  6. Maintains an accurate risk rating assignment for all portfolio loans, identify and notify Senior Management of any problem loans and follow through with corrective actions, as appropriate.
  7. Develops and regularly reports the status of credit risks rated transitional, OAEM, or Substandard to LMC.
  8. Input, update, and manage all tasks within the Commercial Pipeline software application from account creation through closing.

2. Fosters the bank's relationship management culture:



  1. Provides direct service to customers for commercial loan services and assists customers in obtaining specialized services from other areas of the bank.
  2. Solicits new business from present and prospective customers; maintains ongoing business relationships with present customers in order to take advantage of additional cross-selling opportunities.
  3. Maintains a thorough knowledge of the features and benefits of all bank retail and commercial products and services in order to ascertain customer needs and to sell or to make referrals in conjunction with such needs.
  4. Maintains a working knowledge of bank operating policies and procedures that impact commercial lending.
  5. Works with the Commercial Services Market Manager in the development and evaluation of existing and new commercial lending opportunities.
  6. Provides sales information on a timely basis in order that this information may be included as part of monthly and year-to-date sales performance reports.
  7. Monitors individual sales performance versus objectives and discusses performance with Commercial Services Market Manager on a frequent basis.
  8. Participates in relationship management meetings with community office personnel, as necessary.


3. Complies with established operating policies and procedures in order to maintain adequate controls and to support the bank's adherence to outside regulatory requirements.

4. Communicates with the Commercial Services Market Manager and interfaces with other department managers and appropriate staff personnel in order to integrate goals and activities.

5. Provides periodic reports to the Commercial Services Market Manager, various committees and other groups as required throughout the bank.

6. Reviews pending credit packages for OLC on a weekly basis in order to make informed decisions as a voting member.
